The Satiyamai (Silauntia) fair, which is being held from Ekadeshi to Omsatiya-5, Gauri, Rupandehi, is witnessing a huge influx of devotees.

Devotees have come from various parts of Nepal and India to spend the night at the fair. On Wednesday, people from all over the district came to observe the fair, which has been held since tradition.

The organizers said that devotees flocked to the fair, which runs from Ekadashi to Kartik Purnima, because they believe that Satiyamai will fulfill their vows. Since Wednesday was the main day of the Satiyamai fair, there was a large crowd of people to attend the fair.

People had reached the fair with their children since Wednesday morning. The fair has been held in the grounds around the Satiyamai temple on the banks of Rohini. A fair management committee has been formed for the operation. Management committee chairman Devananda Chaudhary said that the committee and the ward office are playing a role in the management of the fair. He said that a storehouse has been opened in the evening and morning for traders, saints and devotees participating in the fair.

Since there was a problem in handling the crowd of visitors, the public was barred from the Rohini bridge. A temporary causeway has been constructed under the suspension bridge to cross the river. The fair, which is being held inside the garden, has shops selling household items as well as utensils, toys, and clothes. The fair has the largest selection of sweets.

Saints are chanting bhajans in the temple premises. The Ramlila going on on the north side of the temple attracts devotees. The fair, which has been held in the rural municipality for hundreds of years, has religious significance, said Madan Prasad Pokharel, ward chairman of Omsatiya-5.

The fair management committee has stated that wrestling will be organized at the fair from 8 am on Thursday. Pokharel said that wrestlers have been invited from Gorakhpur, Maharajgunj, and Delhi in India for the wrestling competition.
