Eight local levels in the district have declared a local holiday on the day of the Nahan Fair, which falls on the full moon day of Kartik Shukla Purnima. The executive office, subordinate ward offices, community and institutional schools, and health institutions (except for essential services) have been declared a local holiday on Wednesday.

Shivraj, Maharajgunj, Kapilvastu and Krishnanagar municipalities in the district have issued notices and declared local holidays. Similarly, Yashodhara, Mayadevi, Shuddhodhan and Vijayanagar rural municipalities have also declared local holidays. 

A big fair is held at Ramghat and Laxmanghat on the Banganga River in the district. Similarly, fairs are also held at various rivers and ghats in the district. The Nahan Fair is celebrated as a special festival in the Terai.
