Neelam Paswan has taken oath as a member of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly in the vacant seat. She took the oath as a member of the Provincial Assembly before Lumbini Provincial Assembly Speaker Tularam Gharti Magar.
The Election Commission appointed Paswan to the vacant post after Janmat Party's Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Geeta Gurung resigned from her post. Paswan's name was at the top of the Dalit cluster in Janmat Party's closed list 4 for the proportional list. Gurung, who had earlier become a Provincial Assembly member from the Indigenous Peoples cluster, resigned from her post.
The Election Commission elected Paswan to the vacant post after the Janmat Party recommended him for the vacant post according to the cluster. Paswan, a permanent resident of Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality-3 in Rupandehi, is also an executive member of the Janmat Party.
The Lumbini Provincial Assembly administered the oath to Paswan on Friday after the Election Commission elected him to the vacant post on the party's recommendation, said Janmat Party parliamentary party leader Chandrakesh Gupta. There are three members from the Janmat Party in the 87-member Lumbini Provincial Assembly.
