One person died and five were injured in a bus accident in Bankasbas, Shivaraj Municipality-1, on the East-West Highway on Thursday morning.
The accident occurred when a passenger bus (B.P.R.01-006 Kha 8506) heading from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi hit a pedestrian and overturned on the road at around 2 am, the Ward Police Office said. The man, aged around 50/55, who was hit by the bus, died.
He died while being taken to the Basic Health Service Hospital in Chandrauta for treatment, the police said. The name and address of the deceased are yet to be revealed, said Santosh Ghimire, Inspector of the Ward Police Office, Chandrauta.
The injured passengers are being treated at the Sanjeevani Community Hospital in Chandrauta. Their condition is normal.
