Mrigasthali Waterfall attracts tourists

What you should know

The waterfall, which cascades from a cliff 55 meters above the ground, has become a delightful destination for tourists. The high mountains, the surrounding greenery and the forest with a panoramic view, the cool climate, and the fountain of water falling from the cliff in the middle have recently attracted domestic tourists here.

The Mrigasthali waterfall, located between Bhumikasthan Municipality-9 and 10, has become a tourist destination after the federal government built a structure worth Rs 5.8 million. People from far away come here to visit by reserving vehicles. After building a hiking trail and other structures, it has become easier for tourists.

Health worker Ashok Chauhan, who came to see the waterfall from Sandhikharka, spent about two hours there. ‘This is a place of cold water and joy,’ he said, ‘The greenery all around me captivated me. The more I looked at the waterfall, the more I enjoyed it.’ He took photos and videos while climbing the stairs. He posted many photos and videos on social media including Facebook and TikTok. ‘This is a refreshing destination,’ he said, ‘I felt a special pleasure sitting in the waterfall.’

He is amazed by the unique and picturesque view of the waterfall as the water falls like smoke from the high cliff. Locals say that it was named Mrigasthali Waterfall because a deer fell and died from this waterfall.

Ward 9 Ward Chairman Khemraj Chundali said that there is a constant stream of tourists here during festivals. He said that 8 to 1200 people visit the waterfall daily. After visiting the waterfall, some tourists also reach Sengleng Daha in Dhanchaur in Ward 10.

He said that he likes to visit the area around Daha because of the cold weather and the view from the high place. Tourists like to eat snacks and food produced in cold places. Targeting tourists, the municipality has also brought eight homestays into operation in Dhanchaur. The municipality has also provided training on homestays to the homeowners who have built the homestays.

‘The goal is to build more tourist infrastructure in the waterfall,’ said Bhumikasthan Municipality Mayor Jhavilal Thapa. ‘We have arranged accommodation with lunch and food for tourists at the waterfall and at Sengleng Daham in Dhanchaur. This area is becoming a good destination for observing natural scenery.’ Tea cultivation has also been done in the forest in Dhanchaur.

It is convenient for tourists as it is located on the Gachhe-Bhaluwang road section. The waterfall is 15 km away from the district headquarters Sandhikharka. Employees and tourists visiting the district also visit Mrigasthali Waterfall.
