A memorial service has been held in Lumbini in memory of Thailand's King Vajiralongkorn's mother, Queen Sirikit, who passed away at the age of 93.
The recitation was held at a program organized by the Royal Thai Monastery in Lumbini on Monday.
Monks, nuns, nuns, gurus and lamas from various monasteries in Lumbini recited the recitation according to Buddhist tradition. On the occasion, Phra Rajbodhi Videsh Vajirabuddhi, Vice President of the Nepal-India Thai Dhammadoot Monk Association, lit a lamp for the eternal peace of the departed soul and said that no matter how much he praised the work and contribution of the late Queen Mother for the Thai people, it would be insufficient.

The late Queen Mother made a great contribution to the rural poor of Thailand, the protection of traditional crafts and the protection of the environment through royal projects. Her health had been deteriorating after she suffered a stroke in 2012. Her husband, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, died in October 2016.
