The third folk cultural, religious tourism and trade festival has started in Sunwal-13 Badera Sundarbasti of West Nawalparasi.
The festival was organized in support of the under-construction Folk Cultural Museum by the National Folk and Dual Song Foundation, Paschim Nawalparasi. While inaugurating the festival, former minister and Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Khadg Basnet mentioned that western culture is being followed in the name of modernity. He said that it is everyone's responsibility to protect their own culture. He emphasized that the local should be the leader in the preservation of traditional culture and values.
It is estimated that more than 60,000 spectators will watch the 11-day long festival, said Shyamkala Bhandari, president of the National Folk and Dohri Song Foundation. It is expected that there will be a turnover of 5 million rupees throughout the duration of the fair.
The festival site has houses reflecting the culture of different castes, stalls of materials related to local art, agriculture, trade and industry.
