Praying for world peace, 5,000 lamps were lit at Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, on Sunday evening. The International Day of Peace was celebrated by lighting the lamp and reciting peace at the Baby Buddha complex near Shanti Deep in Lumbini.

Buddhist religious gurus, monks, nuns, Nepal Scouts and locals participated in the program organized by Universal Peace Sanctuary. The participants prayed for peace by lighting 5,000 lamps. Under the leadership of Shyalpa Tenzing Rinpoche, who is active in the construction of world peace, the day was celebrated by lighting the lamp for world peace in Lumbini this year.

He said that he also wished for the end of the latest Genji movement in Nepal and the unrest caused by it. "Peace should be established all over the world, unity should be maintained among all," he said, "5000 lamps were lit so that peace prevails in Nepal and Nepali sovereignty is protected."

On that occasion, monks and nuns, worshipers and worshipers, students of Lumbini University, representatives of Lumbini Scout and tourists who visited Lumbini participated in the lighting of the lamp.

The International Day of Peace is celebrated every year on 21 September. In 1981, the United Nations General Assembly decided to celebrate September 21 every year as the World Day of Peace.
