For more than three months, Tansen Srinagardanda in Palpa is being continuously cleaned. Tansen's social activists have been participating in the 'We do our Srinagar cleaning' campaign.
Srinagardanda is being cleaned every Saturday morning on a voluntary basis. There is no financial transaction in the campaign. Shambhu Acharya, the coordinator of the campaign, informed that even donations were not collected for cleanliness. "We have not collected donations or financial support from anyone," he said. He said that cleanliness is also important because weirs, water bottles, and junk food shells are thrown randomly. Hanuman idol, view tower, picnic area is more dirty. He believes that the
campaign has helped to add beauty to the Srinagar area. It has also helped to spread awareness about cleanliness among local morning walkers. He said that no committee has been formed for the campaign. "We have taken it as a cleanliness campaign," he said, "After the cleanup campaign, there has been an increase in awareness among the citizens who reach Srinagar area."
Those who used to throw garbage indiscriminately have now become aware. Local activist Bhojraj Bhattarai said that there has been a decrease in indiscriminate dumping of waste in recent times. He said that this campaign will help to expand the beautification of Tansen and develop the perception of cleanliness at the citizen level.
Employees of various offices of Tansen, local citizens, various people spontaneously provide necessary materials for cleaning. In order to manage the Srinagar area of Tansen, Tansen Municipality has done the work of trekking route management, picnic spot, toilet, parking etc.
Srinagar area is also one of the internal revenue of the municipality. In order to make the Srinagar area free of garbage, the local government should penalize those who waste freely, according to the suggestion of the engineer.
