Under the Madan Bhandari Highway, Gulmi's 'Simaltari-Sautamare-Machhi' road is being constructed at a slower pace than a tortoise. Although the deadline for the construction of 16 km of Gulmi section and 15 km of Pyuthan section has passed, the work has been completed only 26 percent.
Information officer of Madan Bhandari Highway Planning Office, Gulmi, Engineer Humnath Poudel, informed that an agreement was signed between Tamghas and Shrestha Saksham JV for the construction of 31 km road from Simaltari in Gulmi to Soutamare and from Soutamare in Pyuthan to Macchi. He said that an agreement was reached to build
on July 5, 2082 for a total of 1 billion 45 crores. Information Officer Paudel said that even after a month of the deadline, only 26 percent material progress has been made so far. From which 22 percent financial progress has been made.
The work of this road section was completely stopped for the last four months. After repeated requests from the office, now only the work of removing the landslide has been done on behalf of the builders. In the meantime, the builders were out of touch. Kishan Sah, an engineer of the construction company, said that he has submitted a request for an extension to the office, showing the problem with the budget.
Madane Rural Municipality Chairman Mahendra Bahadur Kunwar said that the locals had to suffer a lot when the road was destroyed due to the negligence of construction workers. He said, "There is a danger to settlements and farmlands, as well as problems for travelers on the road. Even after drawing the attention of the office and the construction company several times, it has not worked." Chief District Officer of Gulmi, Bishnu Prasad Koirala, said that only the first phase of work has been completed, and now he has directed to speed up the work immediately. He said that they have monitored the road with Madane rural municipality and Madan Bhandari highway planning office. He expressed the hope that the work will speed up now.
