Nepal Red Cross Society Palpa branch has started a blood bank in Palpa from Thursday on the occasion of 63rd Red Cross Day. Baburam Karki, chairman of Red Cross Society Palpa, informed that a blood bank has been started for the four big hospitals of Palpa and one dialysis center to meet the blood shortage.

Tansen Municipality 1 Bhusaldada has its own building under construction for the blood bank, but now it has started by managing a room in the office. For this campaign, 'Our Blood Bank, We Build' campaign was started. Vice President Bhimsen Karki said that so far 6.8 million people living in the country and abroad have been collected from organizations, schools, banks and financial institutions.

Blood bank is being worked on nine annas of land in Tansen Municipality-1, Bhusaldanda with a budget allocation of 1.53 million in the last financial year and 3.3 million this year from the Ministry of Urban Development. Now two floors have been sloped. The Red Cross has said that it will be completed by the end of October. 

The Ministry of Health has received a support of 5 million rupees for the purchase of health equipment required for blood bank operations. The local level of Palpa has promised to help. Health sub-committee coordinator Dr. Tansen municipality procured blood bank materials through the tender process from the 5 million budget received from the Ministry of Health. Jhapendra Dhakal informed. The press conference about the launch of the blood bank was informed.

Red Cross estimates that 2,000 to 3,500 pints of blood will be collected annually in Palpa. 

Nepal Red Cross Society Palpa Branch, which launched the campaign 'Our Blood Bank, We Build It', has collected 68 lakhs in a short period of time. Under the campaign, money has been collected from Yashaskar members, special members, memorial fund, various organizations, individuals, schools as well as Nepalese living in the country and abroad. 

Red Cross Palpa Minister Keshavraj Nepal said that the campaign will be successful only with the support of all Palpalis as well as the local, state and federal governments as there is a lack of resources to establish a blood bank. 

There are four big hospitals in the district namely Palpa Hospital, United Mission Hospital, Lumbini Medical College and Rampur Hospital. It is estimated that 4,000 units of blood are required in hospitals here annually. Minister Nepal said that now blood is being supplied sadly on the basis of personal contact. "I heard that only 15 days ago, one patient died due to lack of blood," he said, "What could be sadder than this?"

After the internal "bleeding" blood flow, the condition of death has been created because the blood cannot be supplied as per the requirement.  "There are daily surgeries in big hospitals, but it is very sad to donate blood," said Bhagwan Bhandari, president of Regular Blood Donor Association, Palpa. The blood bank has opened, it should work properly. Kamalraj Timilsena, president of Nepal Journalist Federation Palpa, said that the citizens of Palpa, Gulmi, Syangja and other neighboring districts will benefit from the opening of the blood bank, which is essential in Palpa. 

Red Cross has planned to conduct a campaign and put 3 crores in Akshaya Kosh. The interest from this amount has been planned to cover staff and administrative expenses. Financial support has been received from various organizations and individuals living abroad such as Palpali Samaj Pokhara, Palpali Samaj Kathmandu, Laghwa Samaj Kathmandu and Palpali Seva Samaj Qatar, Palpali Sangam America, Namaste Palpa Parivar South Korea, which are outside Palpa.

 The Red Cross blood bank campaign has started since March 2080. Vinod Bharti, program officer of Red Cross Palpa, said that after the establishment of the blood transfusion center, the blood needed in the big hospitals here will be available from the blood bank. According to him, in the future, blood donation programs should be held in coordination with the Red Cross. 

A separate safe room or building for blood bank operation should be clean and according to environmental standards. There should be blood donor examination room, blood collection room, laboratory (lab) room, blood storage room (with fridge/cold chain). Likewise, blood distribution rooms, equipment, blood collection bags and needles, blood transfusion machines, blood separation machines, blood storage refrigerators, deep freezers for plasma storage, microscopes, disease testing machines, hematology analyzers, auto-claves, waste management equipment and other materials must be managed.
