Minister Panthi said this at the Annual General Meeting of Maitri Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited at Tamghas in Gulmi. Minister Panthi said that the local, state and federal governments should start maintaining the old trust of the people in cooperatives. He expressed commitment on behalf of Lumbini province that the government will bring the irregularities in cooperatives under regulation. He said that the role of the government is important to eliminate this problem because the role of the state is not effective in the field of cooperatives.
Maitri Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited also held its first unit meeting on the occasion of the 24th Annual General Meeting. Shankar Prasad Gautam, president of the cooperative, informed that 353 members left the cooperative in the last one year and 413 members joined. According to him, the cooperative has 13,791 members. The cooperative has 5 branches in Gulmi, 1 in Rupandehi, 1 in Kapilvastu and 1 in Arghakhanchi. The cooperative currently has a total capital of 95 crores.
