Eight local levels here have given a holiday on the day of Badka Atwari (Badki Sunday) festival celebrated by Tharu and Madhesi communities. Shivraj Municipality, Wanganga Municipality, Kapilvastu Municipality and Maharajganj Municipality have declared a holiday on the day of the festival which falls on 15th of August.
Similarly, Vijayanagar Township, Suddhodhan Rural Municipality, Mayadevi Rural Municipality and Yashodhara Rural Municipality have given leave. A notice has been issued that the city and rural municipality offices, ward offices, educational institutions and health institutions (except for essential services) will remain closed.
There are 10 local levels here. The Lumbini state government had given a public holiday to the entire state last Sunday on the occasion of Badki Sunday festival.
