Stakeholders have said that the political protection of the perpetrators has become a big challenge in the prevention of human trafficking. They say that women are still at risk of being trafficked because of the use of illegal means in the name of foreign employment.
In the consultation program on the preparation of the national report against human trafficking organized by the Human Rights Commission on Thursday in Nepalganj, the stakeholders said that although the organizations and the police increased their activity at the checkpoint, the challenges were increased when the people's representatives played a negative role.
"When the administration started to increase surveillance at the border, instead of helping the people's representatives take the side of the perpetrators," said Adhikari Kamala Pant, "Especially in the hotel, entertainment area, the people's representatives do not get help when they go to monitor and rescue them." Advocate Basant Gautam, who participated in the
program, claimed that the court and the police could not be friendly to the victim. "Even though the case has been registered, many incidents are still happening. Complaints will not be registered, the deadline will not be extended. The victim does not get to know the details of the case,' he said. Only if there is a request, the window will be closed and the sitting will be closed. Lily Thapa said that through the report, the government is collecting suggestions for making policies and plans. The participants suggested that the government should implement the suggestions in the report to prevent Nepal from being registered as a country where human trafficking occurs.
