As the water level of Babai river reached 8.13 meters due to incessant rain, Chief District Officer Paudel has asked not to do risky work.
More than a dozen locals are busy fishing and collecting wood after flood water started entering the fields of residents of Gularia Municipality-5 Walapur. Although the local administration has advised to be cautious due to the high risk of flooding, local residents are busy fishing and collecting driftwood.
Chief District Officer Surendra Paudel and Armed Police Superintendent Man Bahadur Shahi, who are in the process of monitoring, have requested not to do such a thing at risk. The continuous rains since Monday have already crossed the danger level in the Babai river.
Chief District Officer Paudel said that the water level at the water measuring center in Chepang reached 8.13 meters at 12 noon on Tuesday. Flood risk is increasing in the coastal areas of Bardia, Barbardia, Thakurdwara, Madhuvan and Gulria. Babai river comes to Bardia through Salyan and Dang and enters India.
According to the local administration, Babai is at high risk due to rain in Bardia, Salyan and Dang. It takes about 4 hours for the flood to reach the headquarter Gularia through the Chepang water measuring station. Sirens have been started to alert everyone in the coastal areas of the municipality that are at risk.
