A young man has gone missing after being attacked by a crocodile near Thakurbaba Municipality-9 Hattisar in Bardia National Park.

According to Sarojmani Paudel, information officer and senior assistant conservation officer of the park, 19-year-old Rupmilan Tharu of Madhuvan municipality-1 Kailashi went missing when he was attacked by a crocodile while swimming in the Khauraha river.

'Three people went with him to swim,' he said, 'Two people swam out saying that a crocodile had come, but Tharu was attacked by a crocodile. The police are investigating the incident.' 

Tharu, who has just passed 12th standard, is being searched for, said Police Inspector Uttam Jisi of the area police office, Bagnaha Bhurigaon. He said that the police team was engaged in rescue operations a while ago. He informed that they are preparing to search the elephant from the park.
