A child prisoner has committed suicide in the Lumbini state-level correctional home at Bhairawa in Rupandehi.
According to Ganesh Sapkota, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of District Police Office, Rupandehi, the child committed suicide on Saturday.
21-year-old Sandeep Gosai committed suicide by hanging himself at the Children's Correctional Home in Siddharthnagar Municipality-7, Tintarapath, police said. DSP Sapkota said that Gosai was found hanging from an iron pipe in a tin-covered store room on the third floor of the correctional facility while counting the children in the correctional facility in the afternoon.
Gosai belonged to Rupandehi's Sammarimai rural municipality-4. He was serving his life as a prisoner in the case of extortion. According to the police, the deceased Gosai had been taking responsibility as a monitor (Nike) in the correctional home for 1 year. The police said that further investigation is going on regarding the incident.
