Farmers of Palhinandan Rural Municipality of Bardghat Susta West Nawalparasi have been queuing since night to get fertilizer. Farmers have been queuing in front of cooperatives and ward offices since night to get chemical fertilizers.
Ramanandan Harijan of Palhindan Rural Municipality-4 said, 'It's been two months since planting, we haven't received fertilizer yet due to lack of fertilizer. We have been standing in line since night in the hope of getting fertilizer provided by the government.' He expressed concern that rice production will decrease if chemical fertilizers are not used in the fields. 'We have received 25 kg of urea fertilizer per farmer after standing in line since night in front of Ward No. 4 office. Seeing the lack of fertilizers, we are in a dilemma whether to cultivate or not,' he said.
Ravindra Harijan said that the farmers were sitting in line in front of the cooperative to get urea fertilizer from 3 o'clock in the night in Harpur in Palhinandan. Stating that the land has become dry due to the increase in heat due to lack of rain for a long time, he mentioned that the paddy has started to dry.
Palhinandan-4 Ward President Ravindra Sahani informed that urea was distributed at the rate of 25 kg per farmer by arranging it in a line to distribute it to all the farmers due to lack of fertilizer.
The Chief District Officer of West Nawalparasi, Hiralal Regmi, said that the distribution initiative was started because the farmers were complaining about not getting fertilizer as per requirement. Stating that it is necessary to increase the quota of fertilizers, he mentioned that he will proceed in coordination with the concerned agencies.
