After the milk collection center came into operation in Dang, both market and price have been ensured. Farmers who used to go door to door to sell milk have now reached the collection center and started selling.

After the establishment of milk collection center in Garhwa Rural Municipality on Wednesday, the marketing of milk products has become easier. There are more than five hundred commercial dairy farmers in Garhwa rural municipality alone. They have been producing about two thousand liters of milk daily. However, due to lack of market to sell milk, the farmers could not get a reasonable price. From now on, the milk produced by the farmers here has been collected through cooperatives. Because of this, farmers have been able to sell milk at a higher price than selling it at a person's house or dairy.

Farmers who were selling milk at 60 rupees per liter before have expressed their happiness to sell milk at a price above 80 rupees now. Devraj Yadav, a farmer of Garhwa, had previously sold milk at Rs 60 to Rs 65 per litre. Now he is content to sell milk up to Rs 80 per liter.

'First, it should have been sold cheaply. In that too, payment was not received on time,' he said, 'now the price is also good. So we are happy. Now it is necessary to have a system for continuous sales.'

Garhwa Social Enterprise Women's Cooperative Society Limited, which was formed under the VITA project in collaboration with Heifer Project Nepal, has started purchasing milk according to the government price. A milk collection center has been established at the agricultural produce collection and sale center. A chilling vat capable of storing two thousand liters of milk has also been installed here. An agreement has been reached to purchase the collected milk by a specialized cooperative based in Butwal.

Gadhwa Rural Municipality Chairman Yamnarayan Sharma Pokharel said that they have succeeded in ensuring easy marketing and price of milk.
