Plantation of trees has been started in Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, for peace, compassion, friendship and harmony. The campaign to plant 18,000 saplings was launched on Sunday under the Green Lumbini Initiative program.

Sajuruddin Muslim, the city chief of Lumbini Cultural Municipality, started it by planting a tree in the empty place in the middle of the black road in Lumbini before gate number 5. On that occasion, the famous Vietnamese Buddhist monk Dr. Lam (The Huen Diu), former member of Lumbini Provincial Assembly Fakruddin Muslim and Deputy Chief of Lumbini Cultural Municipality Kalpana Harijan and Director of THD Peace Foundation, Vietnam, Kent Dab also planted trees. 

Lumbini Green Youth Club in coordination with Lumbini Development Fund, Division Forest Office and THD Peace Foundation, Vietnam has launched a tree plantation drive. 

Lumbini Green Youth Club president Arjun Kurmi said that today, two hundred Kalki flower plants were planted. Kurmi said that the campaign was carried out so that the pilgrims, worshipers and tourists who come to Lumbini enjoy the green environment and carry the spiritual energy of peace and brotherhood. "This will send a positive message all around," he said, "the sanctity of Lumbini will increase." 

It is said that starting from gate number 5 at Mahilwar, planting trees in the middle and adjacent to Kalopatra road, passing through Padaria, Lokhadia Chowk, Parsa Bazar and again till Mahilbar. It is said that along with tree planting, care and protection of trees will also be done.

Since 18 numbers are considered good and auspicious in Vietnam, 18,000 saplings have been planted here as well.
