In the last three years, the number of accidents has increased in District Traffic Office Palpa.
There were 47 accidents three years ago, 43 accidents in 2080/81 and 150 accidents in 2081/82. As a result, 55 people died in accidents three years ago, 44 in 2080/81 and 27 in 2081/82. In the previous fiscal year, 150 accidents resulted in 28 serious injuries and 134 minor injuries.
The traffic police collected 1 crore 33 lakh 73 thousand revenue three years ago and in the financial year 2080/81 they collected 1 crore 12 lakh 61 thousand 500.
71 lakh 58 thousand revenue was collected in 2081/82 by punishing those who violate traffic rules. Praveen Acharya, the head of the office, said that during this financial year, the maximum revenue was collected in the month of June, when 831 drivers were punished.
According to him, the revenue was collected from activities such as violating traffic rules, driving under the influence of alcohol, charging more fares, using private vehicles to carry passengers.
Acharya said that traffic awareness program has been intensified as the problem is getting complicated due to increasing carelessness and disobedience of traffic rules.
