In order to reduce accidents, the District Traffic Police Office Palpa has intensified on-road training and citizen hearing and discussion program.

In a press conference held at the office, traffic police chief Pravin Acharya said that a program has been held for civil hearings and accident reduction at 14 places on Siddharth highway as well as Jhumsa and Tansen.

'Because there are more accidents during the rainy season, awareness is necessary at this time,' he said, 'that's why traffic awareness programs have been organized for highways.' The traffic police are walking on the road, operating vehicles and giving traffic awareness to the passengers. Vehicle repair center operators and mechanics have also been alerted at various places in Tansen.

Traffic Police chief Acharya said that the traffic police have alerted the operators and mechanics of vehicle repair centers operating in Tansen Municipality-7, Prabhas and Tinau Rural Municipality-3, Jhumsa. Chief Acharya said that they have been alerted not to repair stolen vehicles, to operate only those who have registered their business with the relevant agency.

Chitra Bahadur Thapa, the Ward President of Tinau-3, said that the citizen's hearing has helped in hearing the complaints related to the traffic police and dealing with them.

Citizens complained about the problems of high speed of vehicles, pressure horn, drunkenness and drug consumption of drivers and co-drivers, reservation seats, falling while transporting goods in vehicles, keeping dustbins, tippers carrying coal and limestone and dropping them on the road.

Ward member Tank Basyal says that the police should address complaints from citizens. He said that awareness training and public hearings conducted by the traffic police office will improve the relationship between citizens and the police.

Pradeep Khanal, the ward president of Tansen-7, said that the citizen hearing program held by the traffic police to address the citizens' complaints will be effective.
