Cases of rape and divorce have been increasing in recent years. In the financial year 2081/82, there were 32 cases of rape and 453 cases of divorce.
On Wednesday, the Gulmi District Court held a meeting with media personnel and reviewed the annual progress. In which there were 571 newly registered cases and 194 transferred cases, totaling 765 cases. Gulmi District Court Srestedar Sudarshan Khanal informed that there were 555 cases. Now 210 cases are yet to be decided. Who will be responsible for the next year.
There are 71 male plaintiffs and 382 female plaintiffs in the divorce case. Of these, 338 cases have been decided.
Gulmi District Court Judge Yuvraj Gautam said that there are some worrying statistics on the social side. "Increasing cases of rape and divorce shows the social aspect," he said. Also, because one of the husband or wife is employed abroad in the family, there are divorces due to family discord, immoral relationship with others and financial transactions. Also, there are very few issues that can be resolved through reconciliation in Gulmi district. Out of 110 cases sent for conciliation, 17 have been successful. 78 cases were sent for conciliation but failed.
If you look at the data of the last 5 years, it seems that the number of cases registered and pursued is going down. In the financial year 2077/78, out of 560 cases registered, 371 were dismissed. Similarly, in 078/79, 510 cases were registered out of 699 cases, 576 cases out of 712 cases registered in 079/80, 480 cases out of 674 cases registered in 2080/81 and 555 cases out of 765 cases registered in 081/82.
