Customs evasion goods worth more than 12 crores in one year were seized in Rupandehi

Ruppandehi police have seized goods worth Rs 1267 lakh 71 thousand 779 which were imported from India through various checkpoints during one year.

The police organized a press conference and said that the teams deployed from the district police and subordinate units seized the smuggled goods from last July to the end of June. 

According to Superintendent of Police Pradeep Bahadur Chhetri, the teams mobilized to control smuggling seized the goods that had been smuggled in through various checkpoints in the district. During this period, the police said that goods worth Rs.

113 people have been arrested on charges of customs evasion/trafficking in one year. According to Superintendent of Police Chhetri, not a single person was arrested in January, while 43 people were arrested in June. According to the police, the arrested persons have been handed over to Bhairahawa Customs, Animal Checkpost and Revenue Investigation Office for necessary action according to their crime. 

The police have reported that 334 vehicles used in the transportation of imported goods have been seized from last July to the end of June. Superintendent of Police Chhetri said that 302 motorcycles, 8 trucks, 17 pickup vans, 6 autorickshaws and one tractor were seized during this period. "Recently, the checkpoints have been tightened in the district," he said. In this way, a total of 506 years, two months and 12 days of imprisonment and a fine of Rs. During this period, 1,707 cases were registered across the district under various headings, 1,145 cases were disposed of and 562 cases were pending, it was informed at the press conference.
