It is impossible to go out in the afternoon due to the hot sun. As the month of June is about to pass, most of the farmers' fields in the eastern region of Bardia are barren due to lack of rain, rice planting has not been done yet.

Anil Godia, a farmer of Gularia Municipality-11, said that the fields of the farmers are irrigated by pumps. "Because the land is drying up, water is not coming much," he said.

Most farmers' fields are barren due to lack of rain. Gulria Municipality, Madhuwan Municipality, Baghaiyatal Rural Municipality and other municipalities are full of sky water.

Samshur Ali Gaddi, a farmer of Gulria-11, says that the water problem is the same. He said, 'The sky is full of farming,' he said, 'There is not enough water in Babai because of the Khare river, that's why the farmers irrigate the fields with pumping sets.' As pumping boring is expensive, some farmers are relying on sky water.

At this time last year in Bardia, around 90 percent planting was completed. This year due to drought  Sagar Dhakal, Head of Integrated Agriculture and Livestock Office, said that only 55 percent of the plantations in Bardia have been done.

The water level in the Babai river is very low. Babai River is dependent on sky water due to its dry river. Sushil Devkota, head of the Babai Irrigation Project, said on Saturday that 27 cumex of water was flowing per second. 'At least 50 cusecs of water is required for adequate irrigation,' he said, 'Veri Babai diversion is required for adequate irrigation for twelve months.

The goal is to provide irrigation facilities for 12 months in the area of 51 thousand hectares of Banke and Bardia from Bheri Babai diversion. According to the project, the project will be completed in the financial year 084/085 by returning the water from Bheri to Babai. 55 percent of the paddy cultivation area has been planted in 50 thousand 150 hectares. According to the agriculture staff, if there is enough rain till the end of June, the production will not decrease.
