Commemorating the day when Prince Siddhartha renounced his royal comforts for the sake of enlightenment, midnight Mahabhinishkraman Day is celebrated at Rajprasad Tilaurakot in Kapilvastu on Thursday.
Commemorating the incident 2620 years ago today, Mahabhinishkraman Diwas is celebrated here at 12 o'clock in the night, depicting the incident of Prince Siddhartha leaving the royal palace with royal comforts.
In the program organized by Buddha Circuits.com Nepal and Gachchami Media Group, it was shown that the harsh decision of Mahabhinishkraman was made to coincide with the incident of leaving the royal palace and leaving the palace looking for the cause of suffering in the human race. After attaining enlightenment, Prince Siddhartha Gautama later became famous as Mahatma Buddha. In the program, Sanuraja Shakya, Member Secretary of Lumbini Development Fund of Shamikul, dressed as Prince Siddhartha, was shown riding a white horse and exiting the eastern gate of the Raj Prasad. Similarly, Kiranman Bajracharya, president of Shakyakul Journalist Federation district branch, also came out riding a white horse.
Member Secretary Shakya said that this is a very important and inspiring event for the followers of Shanti. "When I came to the place where I spent my youth for 29 years and participated in the day, I really felt the energy of peace, harmony and compassion," he said. "Such a historic and inspiring experience is rare in the world," he said, "if it can be well branded, it can be a wealth more than heaven for those who enjoy peace and joy." The participants of the
program had the feeling of riding a horse and leaving the palace. "We have awakened the history that we did not think about," said Sudip Paudel, head of Kapilvastu Municipality, "It should be developed as a program to attract Buddhist pilgrims and worshipers." He said that the municipality will support this. Bikram Panikaji, goodwill ambassador of
fund, was doing this program with his investment. Fund Secretary Shakya said that the Lumbini Development Fund has made a calendar to hold this program from 2026.
Asar Purnima is a very holy day. It is the day Prince Siddhartha entered the womb, the day he gave his first sermon and the day he preached Abhidhamma to his mother in Dushitloka. Therefore, the participants emphasized that it should be developed as an attractive program to build virtue, mutual harmony and fraternity for all.
