Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) Lumbini Province has submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, demanding to arrange regular international flights from Gautam Budh International Airport at Bhairahawa in Rupandehi.

During the discussion organized by UML Tourism Department in Kathmandu on Monday, Han Lumbini Province President Chandra Prakash Shrestha submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister containing various demands including the operation of the airport. It has been demanded that necessary labor, visa center, medical examination and manpower branch office should be established in Bhairahawa for regular flights.

'Nepal Airlines should start regular flights from Bhairahawa to destinations including India's capital New Delhi,' the memorandum says, 'security arrangements should be made for night market operations at tourist destinations including Rupandehi.' "We demand to provide loan rescheduling and renewal discount facilities for businesses such as transportation, hotels, and travels who are at risk by targeting the airport," the memorandum states, "Let our demand be met soon and regularize international flights from the airport."

The demand has been submitted in 10 different points. The memorandum has demanded speedy construction of the larger Lumbini master plan, quick listing of Tilaurakot, Devdah and Ramgram as world heritage sites, promotion of the Rohini civilization during the Buddha period and completion of the Buddha Circuit.

'We request to promote the Buddhasthal with other destinations of Lumbini Province by creating a tourism package of at least 5 days,' says the memorandum, 'roads and transport should be arranged for easy access to all the tourist spots of Lumbini Province.' In addition, President Shrestha informed that the demand is for the safety of Indian and third country tourists entering through Belhia and to create an environment for them to reach their destination easily.

"We are putting as much pressure as possible to promote Lumbini's tourism," he said, "This time I came to Kathmandu and submitted a detailed demand."
