Residents of Sunwal Municipality-8 in West Nawalparasi have locked the ward office because the local residents will be affected during the expansion of 33 KV transmission line. The coordinator of the struggle committee, Sanubabu Shrestha, said that the local people, who have been protesting for a long time after forming a struggle committee, have locked the ward office because their demands have not been addressed. As 500 families will be directly affected during the extension of the transmission line, he demanded that the transmission line should be extended from outside the settlement.

Locals are alleging that the administration is going to expand the transmission line by using forceful security personnel and that the poor people are going to riot.
