Maheshpur customs office in West Nawalparasi has destroyed 69 tons of sugar. The sugar stored in the warehouse for a long time has been destroyed. Office chief Vikas Upadhyay said that the sugar which was deemed unfit for use by the customer was destroyed by the customs office.

1 thousand 380 bags of sugar packed in 50 kg sacks were destroyed on the bank of Jharhi River in Palhinandan. Even though the sugar seized by the security agencies has been handed over to the customs office at various times, if it is not sent to the food technology and quality control office for quality testing on time, goods worth lakhs have been destroyed. Along with sugar, 70 sacks of rice seeds illegally imported from India without checking the quarantine and food quality have also been destroyed.

The recovered sugar was sent to Food Technology and Quality Control Office Bhairawa for testing by the Customs Office. After the office sent a letter stating that the bag containing sugar was not labeled and sealed, it was not auctioned and had to be destroyed. The market value of the destroyed sugar is more than 55 lakhs.
