Dhurkot Rural Municipality-1 Nayagaon Gulmi has been declared child-friendly local government for the first time. On Sunday, after completing all the procedural indicators and steps, a child-friendly ward was declared for the first time in Naigaon district.
District Coordination Committee Gulmi chief Dron Bahadur Khatri handed over the certificate of declaration of child-friendly ward to ward president Chetman Kunwar in the presence of Dhurkot rural municipality chairman Bhupal Pokharel, and Naigaon has been formally declared a child-friendly ward.
According to Ward President Kunwar, the Ward has been declared child-friendly for the first time after passing 51 indicators and 28 levels. The district level committee formed under the leadership of Drakhtri Khatri, the head of the district coordination committee, completed its final process after monitoring the wards.
Child protection committee formed at ward level, child-friendly policies prepared and implemented, annual budget allocated for children-related programs And the ward had fulfilled the criteria related to having an action plan on child rights protection.
In addition, there should be birth registration, health, hygiene, education, child labor, child participation, child protection, dependent children, information access, inclusion and monitoring and evaluation in the ward.

Chairman of Dhurkot Rural Municipality Bhupal Pokharel said that Naigaon Balamitri declaration is a pride for the rural municipality. He said that for the first time the ward was announced, the rural municipality gave a reward of one lakh rupees as encouragement. 'Two years of hard work has paid off,' he said, 'the declaration of child-friendly governance has become the pride of Nayagaon Municipality.' He also promised to provide prizes of 90,000, 80,000 and 70,000 rupees to the wards to be announced respectively. Chairman Pokharel said that investment and participation in children should be ensured and only then children can contribute to the society later.
Dron Bahadur Khatri, head of District Coordination Committee Gulmi, said that such programs have more impact on the positive index of human development. 'Nyangaon has set an example to the whole district by becoming child friendly,' he said, 'after learning from this ward, others should also complete the indicator and step-by-step process.' The district coordination committee handed over a certificate stating that Naigaon is suitable for declaring child-friendly governance after monitoring the coordination of education, health and communication. Jesus chief Khatri said that for the first time in Gulmi, the new village of Dhurkot has been declared a child-friendly ward.
