Gold and silver shops in the district have been closed indefinitely for three days. Gold and silver shops across the district have been closed since Friday on the call of the district branch of the gold and silver merchants' association.

District First Vice President Nityanand Burma said that the shop was closed in protest against the unnecessary tax imposed on gold and silver by the government. In the new budget, the government imposed a 2 percent luxury tax on gold and 13 percent tax on diamond stones, so they closed the shop demanding that it be canceled immediately. Similarly, businessmen have demanded that gold customs should be maintained at 6 percent and that the government should formulate clear policies and regulations for gold and silver transactions. When the shop is closed, customers who come to buy jewelery are facing problems.

Due to the unreasonable policy imposed by the government on gold and silver, businessmen across the country have become agitated .
