Palpa-Butwal road section of Siddharth Highway has been blocked due to landslides. A landslide occurred under the highway in Tinau rural municipality-3, Siddhababa area.
A large landslide has occurred where the road has been widened. According to the local residents, a big landslide happened in this place last year as well. The construction of the tunnel from Dobhan to Lower Siddhababa is going on. There is also a risk of further landslides because the old road has been widened with dozers.
When the Siddharth highway was blocked, the passengers going from Butwal to Pokhara, Syangja, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Baglung, as well as the vehicles and passengers going from there to Butwal, Bhairahwa were stranded on the road. After the road was blocked at the Butwal-Narayangadh road and Binayi river, vehicles from the west were going to Kathmandu and east via the Siddhartha highway.
According to the Dobhan police station, an attempt has been made to open the road by using dozers and excavators of the Chinese company China State Construction Engineering Corporation under the road division and tunnel project. From Dobhan to Siddhababa area, even when it rains and when the sun shines, the highway is blocked by landslides every day. The traffic is increasing because vehicles going to Narayangadh and Kathmandu pass through this road through the corridor road of Pokhara and Kaligand for the past few days.
