Palpa section under Siddharth highway has been opened one-way after 10 hours. Under the Tansen-Butwal section of the highway, the highway was blocked since Thursday night after a landslide with large stones fell between Tinau Rural Municipality-3, Dobhan and Siddhababa.

The police said that the rain continued and the road could not be opened during the night. Bishnu Prasad Pandey, a local resident, said that the highway was blocked after landslides occurred at more than a dozen places from Dobhan Police Station to Lower Siddhababa. The construction of the tunnel from Dobhan to Lower Siddhababa is going on. There is also a risk of further landslides because the old road has been widened with dozers.

A landslide with large stones fell on the road in the widened area. As the highway was blocked, passengers going from Butwal to Pokhara, Syangja, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Baglung and vehicles and passengers going from there to Butwal, Bhairahawa were stranded on the road. With the opening of the one-way road, the vehicles that have been stranded since the night have been sent to their destination.

According to Dobhan police station, the road was opened by using dozers and excavators of the Chinese company China State Construction Engineering Corporation under the road division and tunnel project.

From Dobhan to Siddhababa area, even when it rains and the sun shines, the highway is blocked by landslides every day. Vehicles going to Narayangadh and Kathmandu have passed through this road for the past few days through the corridor road of Pokhara and Kaligand.
