More than 150 houses have been flooded in Barbardia Municipality-7 Dangpuruwa of Bardia due to the rain since 3 am on Friday morning. The coordinator of Barbardia Municipality Disaster Management Committee, Puskal Wik, said that two cows, one ox died and one was swept away due to the flood in the river.
The armed police force and the Nepal Police team have reached the submerged area of Barbardia and started the rescue. Meanwhile, chief administrative officer Tikaram Gosai said that a disaster management meeting was held in Barbardia Municipality and discussion about rescue and relief was started.
Members of the disaster management committee have been deployed in the flooded areas. Similarly, wards 1 and 4 of Thakurdwara municipality have been flooded. About a dozen houses in Thakurbaba Municipality-1 and 4 have been affected by flooding.
Locals said that they were flooded because the water was not drained. Tilak Lamsal, mayor of Thakurbaba Municipality, said that more than a dozen houses were flooded by the water flowing from the Chure area.
Meanwhile, the Department of Water and Meteorology has asked people living in the coastal areas to be on high alert due to heavy rains in rain centers located in Latpur, Bergadahi, Rammapur, Ranizruwa and Kumragaon since 3 am.
