A family located in Siddharth Nagar-9 of Ruppandehi stated that both of their children are unable to speak and hear and appealed for financial support for their treatment. After the doctor said that the treatment would cost around 40 lakhs, the parents appealed for help for the treatment of their twin sons.

Santaram and Sunita Tharu, who are now living in Bhairahawa as their permanent home in Kapilvastu's Wanganga-3, have called for help for the treatment of their 4-year-old sons, Eric and Ivan. Both children cannot speak and hear . He held a press conference here on Wednesday and asked for financial support for his son's treatment. Eric and Ivan were born with this problem.

Sunita's mother said that during the examination at the teaching hospital in Kathmandu, the doctor surgically inserted a 'cochlear implant' and said that both of them could hear. A cochlear implant is an electronic medical device. It is surgically implanted and directly activates the auditory nerve by bypassing the damaged part of the inner ear. As a result, the brain develops the ability to hear its signals as sounds.

They said that after the doctor told them that it would cost around 40 lakh rupees to place a 'cochlear implant' in the ears of their two sons, they came back in shock . "We don't have that much money," said Sunita, "We can treat the fathers only if someone helps us financially." If not, they would not be able to hear. Sunita says that the doctor said that the child will be able to speak after receiving speech therapy for three months.

The family says that placing this device in the ears of both people will cost only 30 lakhs and treating it with surgery will cost 40 lakhs . They say that they have asked for financial assistance as the doctor has suggested to place 'cochlear implants' in the ears of both of them by surgery within August.

"The financial condition of our house is not in a position to bear the cost of the treatment". If there is support from all institutions and individuals, it would be possible to treat Awadh children so that they can hear and speak," said Sunita. The Tharu family requests to help as much as possible as this child who cannot speak and hear is also a precious part of this world.
