Tansen Nagar Pragya Pratishthan, Tansen Municipality has honored 87-year-old Purnamaya Maharjan, the founder of Palpali Dhaka Cloth, with cash for her long service.

The foundation honored Maharjan, the founder of Palpali Dhaka, who made Palpa famous, with 68,000 cash, a copper plate, and a dosalla. Santosh Lal Shrestha, Mayor of Tansen Municipality, Pratiksha Gaha Singjali, Deputy Mayor, Choleshwar Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of Nagar Pragya Pratishthan, honored.

After Maharjan's husband late Ganeshman Maharjan, who was also the president of Dhaka Sangh Palpa, came to India to learn the skills of a Dhaka weaver, B.S. In 2015, a couple started weaving Dhaka cloth in Palpa. Now it has succeeded in creating a good identity in the country and abroad.

Maharjan, the founder of Palpali Dhaka, is honored for long service. Poornmaya claims that 7000 women have been trained in Dhaka cloth so far. Even after reaching the age of 87, she says that she has opened the doors of employment by producing many women entrepreneurs in the business.

Palpali Dhaka manufactures sarees, kurtas, hats, purses, bags, etc. In the beginning, the business started by the family, increasing it. Since 2020, Dhaka has been weaving by employing workers.

There are more than three dozen Dhaka textile industrialists and traders in Palpa district. Along with Tansen, they weave Dhaka cloth in the rural areas of Kaseni, Madanpokhara, Kusumkhola, Chirtungdhara, Birkot, Phoksingkot, Palungmainadi, Bandipokhara, Argali. Dhaka has become a rich source of income for women. Earlier, Nagar Pragya Pratishthan has honored 35 people who contributed in various fields including literature, art, culture in Palpa.
