Rurukshetra Rural Municipality of Gulmi has signed a pension scheme agreement for women community health volunteers. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the rural municipality and the Citizen Investment Fund to provide pensions to health volunteers.
In the current financial year 2081/082, the chief administrative officer of the village, Lakshman Pandey informed that the municipality will deposit 10,000 rupees per volunteer per year in the current financial year 2081/082.
Pandey said that he has worked as a health volunteer for at least 15 years and started a pension scheme so that health volunteers who reach the age of 60 will get a pension.
There are currently 77 health volunteers in the rural municipality. Under the supervision of June health post, health volunteers are engaged in all types of services at the ground level of health, especially vaccination, pregnant women and nutrition. There are 9 health institutions in Rurukshetra including 1 primary health center, 6 health posts and 2 Ayurveda dispensaries.
Health volunteers are currently receiving 1000 rupees per month for traveling expenses from the federal government and 500 rupees per month for communication expenses from the local municipality. After joining the pension scheme, the municipality expects that the health volunteers will get a big relief after their retirement.
Rurukshetra rural municipality chairman Yadu Gyawali and executive director of Citizen Investment Fund Parbat Kumar Karki have signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the operation of the health volunteer's citizen pension scheme.
According to this plan, the rural municipality will spend 7 lakh 70 thousand rupees annually for health volunteers. The June amount will be deposited in the Citizen Investment Fund for the time being and will be received by health volunteers as a pension in the future.
Executive Director of Citizen Investment Fund, Parbat Kumar Karki, said that Rurukshetra has put forward an effective plan for the social security of health volunteers, and it has become an example for all municipalities. He said that the pension will be provided from the dividend, interest rate and the amount deposited by the municipality of the Citizen Investment Fund.
Even though it will vary according to different ups and downs, according to the current situation, according to the amount collected by the Rurukshetra rural municipality, health volunteers will get a monthly pension of 1,500 to 2,000 rupees.
Rurukshetra rural municipality president Yadu Gyawali said that he has advanced a pension scheme to increase the morale of health volunteers who work in the health sector. "After working hard now, there should also be long-term benefits", he said, "We have brought this plan as an incentive for them (volunteers). "
He said that health volunteers are the backbone of the health sector and appreciating their contribution so far, they added it to the important plan. The rural municipality has prepared to add this contract to the contract employees of the municipality along with women community health volunteers.
