Butwal-Gorusinge road construction has slowed down. In the last one month, the road construction, which was progressing at a fast pace, has been slowed down due to lack of workers. Most of the places where the work is being done, there are no workers, and now the construction is at a standstill.
Wall and bridge construction work has also been stopped . However, the physical progress of the road has reached 10 percent in 4 months after the foundation stone was laid. Financial progress is 5.5 percent.
After the workers working in road construction went to the Prime Minister's employment program, there is a shortage of workers on the roads under construction. Likewise, the workers of the Muslim community working in the construction of the bridge have not gone home to celebrate Eid. 90% of the workers in the bridge and Dandi works are from the Muslim community .
Kulshata Neupane, the chief engineer of the Butwal-Gorusinge road project, said that the bridge construction work has stopped due to the lack of workers working in Dundee. "Many of the workers who worked on the bridge and Dandi were from the Muslim community, they have now gone to celebrate Eid, so the work on the bridge has stopped," she said.
The work of road expansion under the East-West Highway in Ruppandehi and Kapilvastu sections is currently being done by felling trees, moving electric poles, constructing drains and constructing bridges. Out of the 20 bridges to be constructed towards Rupandehi on a road section of about 50 km, at present, the sub structure work has been started after the completion of the pile cap under the foundations of 12 bridges. The
sub structure is the work of the middle section after the foundation work of the bridge pillars. After that the work of super structure will start . The super structure work will include the bridge slope work . Similarly, engineer Ashok Poudel said that the construction of 17 culverts is currently underway.
The Chinese construction company Shanxi Construction Engineering Group Corporation and Chitwan Construction Services have signed an agreement for a total of 13 billion 55 million 95 lakh 96 thousand rupees for road expansion. Rajendra Acharya, Information Officer and Head of Accounts of the Road Project, said that the construction company has so far received a total of 1.3 billion rupees as 55.77 million rupees for advance mobilization expenses and 47.46 million rupees for bills.
The work of RCC slope and retaining wall is going on at 19 places towards Rupandehi section of the road . Soil filling work is also going on in Salandi West and Sainamaina's Sarauli. Likewise, the pile foundation work of 8 bridges towards Kapilvastu has reached its final stage. Engineer Jiges Prasad Chowdhury said that the longest 300 meter long bridge in the road section is on the Banganga river and its foundation work has been completed 60 percent. "Eleven foundations will have to be built on the 300-meter long bridge," he said, "5 of them have been built and the work of others is also ongoing."
Similarly, out of 19 culverts to be constructed towards Kapilvastu, 9 have reached the final stage and construction work is going on in the other 10, he said. He said that the work will speed up again as the workers who went to the Prime Minister's Employment Program will also return after the Eid is over and June begins. In the first phase of the road, 30 km in Rupandehi and 19 km in Kapilvastu will be extended. Similarly, in the second phase, work will be done on the 19 km section from Gorusinge to Chandrauta, according to the road department.
