A landslide has occurred in the area below the Rolpa hospital building in Reugha. Although efforts have been made to prevent landslides over the years, the situation there is not danger-free. The process of landslides and making the hospital more dangerous has not stopped.

Rolpa Municipality-2 Reugha located directly below the place where the district hospital is built, the Dhangsi river has cut the land every year and the landslide has increased. The Ministry of Forests and Environment has been allocating annual budget to control the landslides of Rolpa Hospital . The District Land and Watershed Management Office under the Ministry has already completed the plan to control landslides and protect land by allocating the budget in the previous financial year as well. But the landslides are getting bigger and landslides cannot be controlled at once with a small budget, said Robert Mahara, head of the Land and Watershed Management Office, Rolpa. 

According to him, a budget of 75 lakhs was allocated from his office in the previous financial year 2081/82 to control landslides. A long gabion wall has been constructed by giving contract work from that amount. Under which a 180 meter long gabion wall has been constructed in the Dhangsi River downstream of Rolpa Hospital. According to this plan, 1 thousand 242 cubic meters of Gabin wire mesh has been filled. As the contract for the project was taken by Ashtavinayak Construction Services, the work has already been completed in the current financial year. While working on the contract, the said construction company had an agreement with the Land and Watershed Management Office for 40 million.

If the district hospital building with a capacity of 50 beds built a few years ago in Reugha is not completely protected from landslides, it is certain that more danger will increase . Since the huge building of the hospital has been constructed, it is necessary to pay attention to the protection of the landslide below it. There is a demand of the locals to identify the landslide affected area and call a geologist to study it. "The geography and terrain of the landslide-affected area is geologically very weak and it is necessary to control landslides through the use of bioengineering and low-cost land conservation techniques," said Mahara, head of the Land and Watershed Management Office in Rolpa.

According to him, the budget is being allocated from the Public Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office Rolpa to protect the Dhangsi river and also the landslide area. In the financial year 2081/82, a combined budget allocation of 90 million was made for the construction of embankments in landslide-prone areas and Dhangsi river. According to the Irrigation Division office, in the current year, the budget of 10 lakhs was budgeted for the scheme, while the previous year, the budget was 20 lakhs. 

Local Durga Lakshmi Budhamgar, who is also a construction worker, said that landslides are increasing every year, but the government has allocated a very low budget, so the challenge has been added to protect the hospital area by controlling landslides. Every year the budget is sent in pieces. There is little progress in the control of landslides, as floods and landslides increase the damage every year. It is necessary for the government to pay attention and increase the budget," she said.

There are no big trees in the area under the hospital and there is only butyan, so the locals demand that trees be planted. Even in the absence of hospital management committee formation, there is a problem in making a solid plan to control landslides. Local people's representatives also have to be serious and pay attention to landslide control. Rolpa Hospital Information Officer Kul Bahadur Dangi said that it is necessary for the government to give serious priority to controlling landslides.

The services at the Rolpa Hospital, which is in critical condition, are not sufficient . The hospital inaugurated by former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal does not have enough posts. Manpower is also low. At present, only a few doctors are working in the hospital. While there is a post of 18 doctors including 11th level Chief Consultant (Medical Superintendent). At present, a doctor of the tenth level is the chief . Since they did not come from the eleventh level, they were driven by the tenth level . According to the approved doctor positions in the hospital, CMS, MS or Director, one chief consultant doctor of the eleventh level, 10 senior consultant doctors of the ninth or tenth level, 7 medical officers of the eighth level, and 13 nursing staff are approved. The ratio between doctors and patients is 320 people equal to 1 .
