The work of 'invert and lining' in Siddhartha tunnel under Siddharth highway has progressed rapidly. Of the total 1089 meters of the main tunnel, only 99 meters of invert work is left, while the lining work is 429 meters.

Krishnaraj Adhikari, head of the Siddhababa Tunnel Project Office informed that the work of 'invert and lining' is going on in Bypass 1 and the work of 'invert' has started in Bypass 3. The project plans to speed up the work of the tunnel main tunnel and send vehicles from inside to work on the current road.

project, the 2-lane main tunnel will be 1 thousand 89 meters long. The width of its main tunnel will be 10 and a half meters and the height will be about 7 meters. According to the project office, the total length of this tunnel including lining will be 1,126 meters. Out of this, 480 meters of the invert work of the main tunnel to the north has been completed. According to the project office, 510 meters of work has been done on the south side.

The lining work in the main tunnel is 320 meters to the north and 340 meters to the south. According to the project, 1495 out of 2 thousand 300 south side of slope protection, 495 out of 1100 north side, 481 out of 9620 MR1 mountain side, 1414 out of 7440 MR2 mountain site have been worked .  According to the

project, even if the builders work within the time frame, it is estimated that it will take one more year to complete the vehicle. The tunnel will be electrified in the coming days. Security and communication equipment will be connected. The chief officer of the project said that since the current road has to be demolished outside, the traffic should be operated from the main tunnel.

There will be works such as concreting the walls, water proofing, road construction, slope inside the tunnel, ventilation, lining, lighting, oxygen exchange, safety measures, installation of fire extinguishers, etc. After this, there are plans to build a helipad on the north and south side of the tunnel.

This project was contracted to be completed within 5 years in February 2078 . The Chinese company China State Construction Engineering Corporation, which is in charge of the construction, has signed a contract with a cost of 7 billion 34 million 21 million rupees including value added tax. According to the terms of the contract, the construction should be completed within 5 years from the start of the construction in the first phase, i.e. on 8th Chait, 2083 .

When the tunnel is completed, the citizens of Palpa, Rupandehi, Gulmi, Arghakhanchi, Rupandehi, Syangja, Pokhara, Baglung, Mustang and other areas of Lumbini and Gandaki provinces will be able to travel safely.
