The troubled leopard was taken into custody from Tharu Community Forest, Gularia-5 Balapur on Wednesday morning. Veterinarian of the National Nature Conservation Fund, Vikalp Karki, said that the goat kept in the cage tried to eat it and entered the cage.
On June 14, a 5-year-old girl named Saira Tharu of Gularia Municipality-5 Walapur died after being attacked by a leopard. For eight days, local people including Division Forest Office, Bardia Park, National Nature Conservation Fund searched day and night to control the leopard.
In the past 7 months, the residents of the area around Gulria have been frightened by the fear of leopards, which have killed four people. According to Vijayraj Subedi, head of Division Forest Office, the captured leopard is a female. 'The leopard that came under control has always been seen under monitoring,' he said, 'it is important to be alert as there may be leopards in the said community forest.' The captured leopard has been kept in the Division Forest Office.
9-year-old Melina Khadka was also killed in a leopard attack in Sayu Community Forest located in Gulria-8 on 15th Baisakh. Since last December, four people have died in Bardiya due to leopard attacks. During this period, 16 people were injured in the leopard attack, according to the Division Forest Office.
