Under the Sahidmarg road scheme, work is being done to widen the road by double cutting it at four different places in East Rukum. It is said that he is currently working in a narrow place that cannot reach Ghumti.
Madhav Adhikari, the chief engineer of Shahid Marg Scheme, said that they are working to widen the road in different places of Puthauttarganga Rural Municipality of Rukum East section from Rikadhuri to Kuwang, Kuwang to Taksera, Taksera Bazar and Ghattekhola to Dimmur Gara.
According to the official, the road improvement work is being done in these places under a total budget of 77.2 million including VAT within the current financial year. The work has been started for immediate improvement by determining the places where it is difficult to operate the vehicle. It is necessary for the government of Nepal to ensure the budget to further upgrade it.'
This road stretches from Ghorahi in Dang through Rolpa to Makot in East Rukum and is 220 kilometers long. Under this, Rukum is 75 km east. This project, which was started during the then Maoist war, has been allocated budget at different times, but the work has not been completed. Even in the Rukum segment, the track has been left open only.
Stating that the effectiveness of the construction of this road is necessary, Bharat Pun of Makot said that this road is the life line of the district.
