Kohalpur Municipality has started giving subsidies for agricultural mechanization by targeting farmers who are involved in agricultural profession. Yagya Bahadur Rokay, Agricultural Technician of Kohalpur Municipality Agriculture Branch informed that 19 minitillers have been distributed from the allocated budget for the financial year 2081/082.

 For the current financial year, the total budget of the Agricultural Development Branch is 1 crore 41 lakh 50 thousand. Out of that, 3.3 million 50 thousand rupees have been allocated for Nisharta and 1.1 million rupees for Shasarta and are being implemented.

Mayor Purna Prasad Acharya and Deputy Mayor Sangita Subedi distributed 19 minitillers to farmers, agricultural farms, farmer groups, and some agricultural cooperatives from Ward No. 1 to Ward No. 15 of the municipality. Sangita Subedi, deputy chief of Kohalpur municipality, also said that the municipality has supported mechanization of agriculture based on the needs and demands of farmers.

She mentioned that demand-based schemes have been implemented to commercialize agriculture. She believed that the agricultural equipment received by the farmers will make their work easier. Minitillers have been distributed with 50% municipal subsidy and 50% farmer cost. Agricultural Technician Rokay also informed that 80 pump sets have been distributed under the Small Irrigation Promotion Program.

The price of a mini tiller is around 19 thousand rupees, while the price of a pump set is around 9 thousand rupees. Kohalpur Municipality has given 50% subsidy for it. Speaking at the minitiller and pump set distribution program, the city chief Acharya said that the farmers have been assisted in mechanization in order to modernize the agricultural profession.

"The number of farmers in Kohalpur Municipality is also large," he said, "targeting those farmers, the municipality has been giving them agricultural mechanization, subsidies and technical assistance in seed sowing." "Our policies and programs and budgets are made to encourage small farmers especially," he said. Anita Budhakshetri, Coordinator of the Economic Development Committee, informed that Kohalpur Municipality is also doing the construction of small irrigation structures.

"The construction of canals, the connection of shallow tube wells, vegetable promotion programs, seed vision and other technical support, the support of materials needed by the beekeeping farmers is also coming from the municipality," she said, "we feel that this has motivated the farmers towards the agricultural profession."
