In East Nawalparasi, 148 people have died in road accidents in four years. 346 people were seriously injured and 396 people were slightly injured. Drivers, passengers and pedestrians lost their lives in the accident that took place at 65 km of the East-West highway and on the inner road.
Looking at these statistics, more people die from vehicle accidents than from any epidemic disease. Although awareness and various programs have been conducted to reduce road accidents, the incidence of road accidents seems to be alarming. According to the District Traffic Police Office, 40 people died in 95 vehicle accidents in the financial year 2078079.
114 people were seriously injured and 146 people were lightly injured. In the financial year 2079080, vehicle accidents seem to have decreased . In 76 accidents, 29 people were killed, 115 people were seriously injured and 99 were slightly injured.
The most traffic accidents in these four years have occurred in 2080081 . 46 people lost their lives in 135 accidents that year. 79 people were seriously injured and 78 people were slightly injured. In the 10th month of the current financial year, 33 people died, 58 were seriously injured and 73 were slightly injured in 93 vehicle accidents in the district.

Accidents have occurred even when the road is broken and potholes are not covered, it is slippery when it rains and the dust makes it difficult to see the vehicle in front when it is sunny. Motorcycles are the most involved in vehicle accidents.
After many accidents started happening due to the road, the locals have been demanding that the road under expansion be completed as soon as possible. The police has also been conducting public awareness programs related to vehicle accidents.
By going to schools, colleges and places with high traffic, awareness about accidents and the harm caused by them has been spread, but its effectiveness is very low . Local youth clubs and organizations have also supported this.
