The rice found here is the ancestor of the rice cultivated in Asia. Lotus flower is used in traditional treatment for swelling, cancer, diabetes, skin diseases, bleeding problems, heart problems etc. Narayandev Bhattarai, Head of Division Forest Office, Palpa, said that along with the improvement and promotion of Prabhas Kalam lake area, social and economic development of the local residents should be explained.
He said that this area will be developed as a tourist area after the lotus blossoms profusely. There is only 32 ropani of public land here. There is also a suggestion that the wetland should remain as a wetland. Vansh Gopal community forest and wetlands are located along Prabhastal. Divisional Forest Chief Bhattarai said that wetlands help birds, chipple insects, butterflies, amphibians and small mammals.
Local and people's representative Himalal Pangeni said that along with the protection of wild rice, white lotus flower, the Surya Kund of religious importance can attract tourists. "I heard that the white lotus flower has a lot of importance," he said, "it seems that the wetland area can be developed as well as its religious and touristic importance."
