Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya has said that community forests within the province are the main source of revenue collection. He said that forests should be managed more based on the enhancement system. He mentioned that the system has also given employment opportunities to consumers in the forest.
At the first council meeting of Community Forest Users Federation of Lumbini Province at Sitganga Municipality-8, Ratmara on Friday, Chief Minister Acharya said that the forest sector has been taken as a major source of revenue by the provincial government. However, he mentioned that the agitations that took place at different times were affecting the revenue collection and mobilization. He said that the government is ready to discuss the problems and find a solution, protect the interests of consumers and create an environment of cooperation.
The members of the Community Forest Consumer Federation said that there is no need to get emotional in the name of the movement and clarified that the government is committed to protect the rights of the consumers. The members of the forest users have expressed the opinion that they should take the root of the problem and move towards the solution without being concerned about the wishes or cover of any particular person.
Some people are planning to increase the distance between the government and the Community Forest Users Federation and have expressed the opinion that everyone should be aware of such trends. He said that forests should be developed as a source of additional income, and all consumers should be involved in the production of fruits and wood plants in bare forest areas.
