Siddharth Nagar Municipality of Rupandehi has distributed rice seeds to the farmers with 50% subsidy. As per the municipality published a 20-day notice to provide rice seed subsidy to local farmers, the distribution has started from Wednesday.
Head of Agriculture Branch Yogendra Prasad Yadav informed that 3 lakh rupees will be invested in the municipal budget and 3 lakh rupees will be distributed to the farmers. According to him, the farmers in the municipality will get advanced seeds of Sava Mansuli, Sava Mansuli Sav 1, Hardinath 6, Ramdhan.
The head of Siddharthnagar municipality, Istiaq Ahmed Khan, while providing seeds to the farmers, said that the production of Nepali rice will gain a place in the Nepali market and the farmers will be able to eat the rice of their own country. He suggested that farmers within the municipality should use subsidized seeds for cultivation as rice seeds were distributed with the aim of increasing production by using advanced seeds. He also said that the municipality has been providing rice, wheat, vegetables and other seeds and agricultural equipment to the farmers according to the season.
The municipality has provided seeds to the farmers based on Lalpurja, citizenship and ward recommendations and according to the information, even farmers except those who know can take the seeds to the municipality, Yadav said. Farmers will get Rs 45 per kg of rice seeds, which have been distributed under subsidy, at Rs 90 per kg.
