The provincial assembly meeting has unanimously passed the bill which was prepared with the aim of making the economic administration of the province more transparent and efficient.
Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Dhanendra Karki presented the bill in the fourth meeting of the sixth session of the Lumbini State Assembly on Sunday. He submitted a proposal for quarterly discussion on the Bill as per Clause (a) of Sub-rule (1) of Rule 109 of Lumbini State Assembly Rules, 2079. As no member nominated his name for discussion, the bill was presented for direct decision.
Speaker Tularam Gharti Magar informed the meeting and announced that the bill was passed unanimously as no one voted against it.
Through this bill, the state government will coordinate with the local levels and prepare a legal structure that will make the tax collection system integrated, transparent and accountable. It is expected to increase the internal revenue collection of the province, end the double taxation system and strengthen economic self-governance.
