As the road became slippery due to rain, the traffic operation has been disrupted in the eastern and western parts of Nawalparasi under the East-West Highway. Traffic was blocked in both directions after the vehicle skidded when the road was muddy.
Madhu Nepal, DSP of District Police Office East Nawalparasi, said that they were stopped at Dumkibas on the east side and Bardghat on the west side after the vehicle could not go uphill due to the slip. In this section where the road expansion is being done, the slippery road is not even covered with gravel, which has made it difficult for vehicles to operate. Because of this, hundreds of passengers are stranded. The administration has been asking the passengers who have to travel to the southern section to use an alternative route.
In this section of the road, even in normal rains, the road becomes muddy and the traffic is blocked for hours . As it is still raining now, the traffic will be operational only after the rain stops.
