A meat businessman from Butwal has been arrested for allegedly selling and distributing goat meat as goat meat.

A 34-year-old businessman named Meraj Shah of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-1 Jitgarhi was arrested by the police team deployed from ELA Police Office Butwal.

It is alleged by the police that he bought goats from different places, butchered them at home, took them to the meat shop and sold them under the pretense that it was goat meat that was slaughtered at home. Information Officer and DSP Suraj Karki of District Police Office Rupandehi who was arrested after receiving information about this.

According to Karki, Meraj Shah was arrested while slaughtering a goat and roasting it at home. He said that various parts of goats were also found that were cut and thrown away. 

The police have also recovered 41 kg of meat cut into pieces and kept in 3 sacks from Meraj's house. According to DSP Karki, a case has been registered against Shah for the crime of black market and other social crimes and punishments Act 2032 and the action process has been taken forward from the district administration office Rupandehi.
